Slide 4 gives the subject of the lectures for the balance of this term: Stereochemistry, which includes configuration and conformation, and Energy.

Slide 5 shows the chemistry genealogy timeline. It points out the parts of chemistry genealogy that we have already studied (circled in blue) and those that pertain to stereochemistry and energy (circled in red). The chemists we are about to study are Pasteur, Baeyer, Fischer, and van't Hoff.

Slide 6 also shows the chemistry genealogy timeline. This slide points out (again in red) the concepts that we will be studying in the near future, including conformational analysis and molecular mechanics modeling. Note that these subjects came on the scene MUCH later than configuration (more than 75 years).
